La Shark

by Bree Hoskin

11 November 2011

Last year, we spoke to frenetic psych-popsters La Shark about songs, touring, worldwide fame, plastic surgery, G-A-Y, doing the limbo and playing on a bouncing castle.

This time ‘round, we chatted about their new single ‘Magazine Cover’, pop, fortune, ego, gay rumours, posing nude and performing topless.

Stop or confirm (or start) a rumour about yourself...
We have wives but we all sleep with guys sometimes.

Tell us a bit about your new single 'Magazine Cover' - what can we expect?
It's an arrogant song about a bunch of losers, featuring guest vocals from Liberty X.

"We have wives but we all sleep with guys sometimes."

What are you most proud of about the single?
I like the bit with my name in. In all seriousness, we think a lot about fame and fortune, and wanted to create a unique sounding pop vessel to channel these thoughts and engage with the idea of 'Ego'.

We've seen pics of you guys performing with your tops off - is this the norm when you guys get up on stage?!
We have a higher body temperature than most humans and the people who took those photos were very manipulative.

Your single's called 'Magazine Cover' - would you ever pose nude for a magazine photo shoot?
Yes.

When we spoke to you guys last year, you told us that Lewis got the most male attention - is this still the case?!
Um, I dunno if you heard, but Lewis got really ugly this year. Our new percussionist Jacob gets by far the most cock nowadays.

It's our round - what are you having?
A bottle of Laphroig and a can of Doctor Pepper.

What was the first CD you ever bought?
Californication and the Godzilla soundtrack.

"In all seriousness, we think a lot about fame and fortune, and wanted to create a unique sounding pop vessel to channel these thoughts and engage with the idea of 'Ego'."

What makes you happy?
Material possessions, sugar, romance, beauty, showing off.

What makes you angry?
Serious people, jealousy, spoilt children, overpriced meals, time wasters.

What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?
"Immortality, take it, it's yours!"

Anything to add?
